nuwacom Apps: Summary
nuwacom Apps are a component of the nuwacom Platform. Apps are created in the App Builder using natural language. The user creates a text description in Chat, for example “Create a dashboard with our project figures”, after which nuwacom develops the application. No technical expertise is required.
This can be used to create, among other things, dashboards and reports, calculators and configurators, data collection forms, boards and infographics, charts and searchable knowledge explorers. Design specifications, logos and approved images can be included from the outset so that Apps follow the organization’s visual identity.
Editing takes place through Chat. Changes are applied specifically to the existing App instead of rebuilding it. An App’s workspace shows four views: the running preview, the read-only source code with file tree, the connected sources and the integrations. Each change is saved as a version snapshot, and older versions can be restored.
Apps work with data. Files and content from the Knowledge Base serve as sources; integrations incorporate actions from other business applications such as CRM, calendar, email and Chat. Integrated AI functions include text generation, summarization, structured data extraction as well as image generation, image editing and image analysis. Current web information is obtained through the platform’s Web Search.
App security follows a clear concept. Each App runs in an isolated sandbox at its own address, separated from the main platform and from other Apps. Apps never see authentication tokens or login credentials; the platform mediates every connection. Apps cannot directly call arbitrary external services. In shared Apps, each person uses their own connected accounts. Access always requires a logged-in Workspace member.
Sharing takes place through a sharing dialog with read or edit permissions, optionally for individual people, groups or the entire Workspace. New people receive read permissions by default. An invitation link is valid for seven days and applies to logged-in Workspace members. The App and creation Chat are shared separately. The source code can be exported as a ZIP archive, and the App additionally as a PDF.
nuwacom Apps have documented limits. Apps run exclusively client-side. There are no public or anonymous URLs. Visual editing of individual elements via drag-and-drop is not provided; changes are made through Chat. Stored interface states are provided for convenience and do not constitute a shared database.
