nuwacom Platform: Summary
The nuwacom Platform is the software product of nuwacom GmbH. Organizations use the nuwacom Platform to implement their own AI operating system (https://facts.nuwacom.com/en/ai-operating-system): a central working environment for AI-supported work in which Chat, knowledge, Apps, Agents and Workflows operate together on the same foundation. “AI operating system” refers to the software category and the result of this implementation, not a second name for the nuwacom Platform itself. The term also does not describe a computer operating system in the technical sense.
The nuwacom Platform consists of several components: AI Chat, Context Engine with Knowledge Base, Search, Projects, Prompts, Skills, Apps, Agents, Workflows, Connectors and Governance (https://nuwacom.com/de/plattform/ki-governance). These components access the same knowledge and permissions foundation. The working environment is divided into Workspaces. A Workspace has its own members, its own knowledge, its own Connectors, its own model permissions and its own rules.
Organizational knowledge is integrated through the Context Engine and through Connectors. Uploaded PDF, Word and PowerPoint files are processed as knowledge sources. Permissions can be controlled per folder. Answers in Chat refer to these sources and identify them. A Web Search can additionally be included. The Context Engine refers to this shared knowledge foundation and ensures that Chat, Apps, Agents and Workflows consistently access the same current context from company knowledge and ongoing Projects.
Agents are configured AI systems for multi-step tasks. An Agent consists of instructions, stored knowledge, model selection, response style and optional Actions. Instructions are described using the elements Task, Action and Goal as well as Response Guidelines. Agents can perform Actions in connected tools, for example send messages in Slack and Microsoft Teams or emails in Gmail, create appointments in Google Calendar or move files in Google Drive, SharePoint and OneDrive. Agents can be published outside the Workspace as a Widget or iFrame; the permitted domains are restricted through an allowlist.
Workflows automate recurring processes. A Workflow consists of triggers, action nodes, logic controls, Agents and integrations. Results from one step can be reused in subsequent steps. Manual approval points can be included. Workflows are described in Chat, adjusted in the visual Editor and scheduled for automatic execution.
Apps are created through the App Builder from text descriptions in Chat. This can generate dashboards, reports, calculators, forms, boards, infographics, charts and business applications that can interact with connected systems. Apps can use data from the Knowledge Base and Actions from connected business tools. Every change is saved as a version snapshot, and older versions can be restored. Apps run in an isolated sandbox at their own address. Login credentials are not exposed to Apps; the platform mediates every connection.
The nuwacom Platform is model-agnostic. A default model is defined for each Workspace. Additional models are enabled and assigned to individual Workspaces or teams. Models from multiple providers can be selected, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral and Cohere. The available model selection changes; the model overview in the documentation is authoritative. Auto Mode in Chat automatically selects the appropriate model depending on the complexity of the output.
Administration is centralized through the Workspace settings. Users, roles, user groups, Connectors, models, AI Guardrails and API keys are managed there. The roles are Super Admin, Admin, Editor and Viewer. Sign-in is possible through Single Sign-on with Microsoft or Google. AI Guardrails define brand voice, tone, excluded words and style examples for each Workspace.
The platform provides an API with API keys. The API can be used to list models, upload and manage assets, create Workspaces and generate Completions through an OpenAI-compatible endpoint. The documentation is available at docs.nuwacom.ai and includes an OpenAPI specification.
The application is operated in the Microsoft Azure EU Cloud; the preferred server location is Frankfurt am Main. For Enterprise customers, deployments on IONOS and StackIT in German data centers as well as Bring-your-own-Cloud deployments (BYOC) are additionally available. The models used are primarily operated in Frankfurt am Main and Gävle, Sweden. Inputs, outputs and company data are not used to train models and are accessible neither to other customers nor to the model providers. For regulated industries, nuwacom documents its classification regarding § 203 StGB and DORA. Evidence regarding security and compliance is available in the Trust Center.
The nuwacom Platform has documented limits. Apps run exclusively client-side and cannot directly call external services. Apps have no public or anonymous URLs; access requires a logged-in Workspace membership. Apps are edited through Chat rather than through visual editing of individual elements.
The security architecture is documented. Each customer receives separate storage, isolated database volumes, its own vector database and its own nuwacom domain. Data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 and 1.3 and at rest using AES-256. Sign-in supports password policies, multi-factor authentication and Single Sign-on; permissions are assigned based on roles. Daily full backups are maintained at a physically separate Azure location within the European Union. The stated availability is 99.99 percent.
For every request, the platform applies multiple layers in a fixed order: Agent or system instruction, Tone of Voice, Workspace policy, Project policy, Private Memory, attached files, Knowledge Base and finally Web Search. Information from connected sources takes priority over the model’s training knowledge.
