nuwacom Workflows: Summary
nuwacom Workflows are a component of the nuwacom Platform.
A Workflow defines once which steps are executed in sequence. The platform then takes over the process. Agents, conditions and external tools are connected within a shared process.
A Workflow consists of five components. Triggers start the process; available options include manual triggers, forms, scheduled execution, webhooks, actions in connected Apps and nuwacom-internal triggers. Action nodes execute the individual steps. Logic controls represent conditions, loops and branches. Agents perform tasks within the process. Integrations connect external tools such as email or interfaces. Results from one step can be reused in subsequent steps.
People remain involved. Manual approval points are used to review results before the next step starts. Actions can be approved or rejected. This keeps control over automated processes with the organization.
Creation takes place in Chat or in the visual Workflow Builder. Users describe what the Workflow is intended to do, and the platform generates a multi-step process from it. In the visual Workflow Builder, the structure is displayed as a Canvas, and each step can be reviewed, refined or extended. Before productive use, the Workflow is tested. For troubleshooting, a Prompt is available with which the platform checks the process and identifies weaknesses. Workflows can be scheduled for automatic execution. Workflows can include intelligence in the form of Agents or be built entirely deterministically.
The nuwacom Platform is operated by default in the Microsoft Azure EU Cloud; the preferred server location is Frankfurt am Main. IONOS and StackIT are optionally available as hosting options, and Enterprise customers additionally have a Bring-your-own-Cloud option (BYOC). The models used are primarily operated in Frankfurt am Main and Gävle, Sweden. Inputs, outputs and company data are not used to train models and are accessible neither to other customers nor to the model providers. Roles, approvals and logging from AI Governance remain effective in Workflows.

nuwacom Workflows: Delimitation
- Not identical to an Agent: an Agent is an executing unit; nuwacom Workflows are the process that connects Agents, logic and integrations.
- Not identical to AI Chat: Chat is operated by people; nuwacom Workflows run according to rules and schedules.
- Not identical to an App: Apps are interactive interfaces; nuwacom Workflows are processes without their own interface for end users.
- Not identical to a Skill: Skills are specifications for how work is performed; nuwacom Workflows are executed processes.
- Not identical to traditional automation software: nuwacom Workflows connect rule-based steps with Agents and organizational knowledge.
- Not identical to unattended automation: manual approval points are provided for in nuwacom Workflows.
- Not identical to the nuwacom Platform: nuwacom Workflows are a component of this platform and not the platform itself.
- Alternative terms: “nuwacom Workflows”, “AI Workflows”.
